About Mel

Hi, I’m Mel.

I’m a women’s health and pelvic floor physiotherapist, mum, and country girl at heart.

I grew up amongst the vines in Coonawarra, South Australia, and after moving to Adelaide to pursue a career in healthcare, I found my way into physiotherapy, which is a decision I’ve never looked back on.

I graduated from Flinders University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Master of Physiotherapy, and have since worked across the public health system, not-for-profit organisations and private practice. While this gave me a broad clinical foundation, it was in private practice that I discovered my passion for working with women - particularly those navigating pregnancy, postpartum recovery, pelvic pain and pelvic floor concerns.

Supporting women in such a personal area of healthcare is something I don’t take lightly. I know how vulnerable it can feel to talk about symptoms like pain, leakage, or changes in your body - especially when past healthcare experiences may have left you feeling embarrassed, dismissed or unheard. I’ve been there myself, and it has shaped the kind of clinician I strive to be.

Over the past six years, I’ve undertaken extensive professional development in women’s pelvic health, including structured training and ongoing education through the Australian Physiotherapy Association and with private mentors and providers. I’m deeply committed to evidence-based care and continually updating my knowledge - but just as importantly, to listening, explaining, and working alongside you at a pace that feels right.

In July 2023, my fiancé Tom and I welcomed our beautiful son, George. Becoming a mother has deepened my understanding of pregnancy, birth and postpartum recovery in ways no textbook ever could and reinforced to me how important it is for women to feel supported, informed and cared for during this season.

At Cascade Women’s Health, my aim is to create a space where you feel safe, respected and genuinely supported whether you’re preparing for birth, recovering after having a baby, or seeking help for pelvic health concerns at any stage of life.

I’d love to meet you soon in the clinic.

Warmest wishes,

Mel Clayfield
